President Donald Trump stated that U.S. economic growth could reach 20 percent and argued that rapid growth should not prompt Federal Reserve rate hikes despite inflation remaining above the central bank's 2 percent target. Growth of that magnitude has occurred only once since World War II. The Federal Reserve maintained its target inflation rate at 2 percent as of 2026.
