Lilly to Buy Merida for $2.88 Billion in Autoimmune Push

Eli Lilly announced plans to acquire Merida Biosciences for up to $2.88 billion in cash to expand its portfolio in autoimmune and allergic diseases. The deal is part of Lilly's broader acquisition strategy in 2026, during which the company has announced more than $20 billion in deals total. Lilly generates significant revenue from its weight-loss and diabetes medications Zepbound and Mounjaro. The company has been acquiring medicines in earlier developmental stages to build its future pipeline.
