PG&E Falls on Liability Bill; Nvidia Rises on Chip Investment | Stock Movers

Monday, August 31, 2026

PG&E shares fell after California legislators introduced a bill updating the state's wildfire response without shifting liability away from publicly traded utilities. BMO Capital Markets and Wells Fargo downgraded the stock. Chevron and ExxonMobil rose as oil prices increased following military exchanges between Washington and Tehran, with US Central Command targeting rocket launchers in the Strait of Hormuz and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps reporting attacks on US air bases in Jordan. Nvidia shares rose after declining 4.6 percent on Friday, becoming the only stock rising in the Mag 7 index on Monday.
