Cheap streaming box could hijack your home internet

Researchers identified a botnet called Popa that compromises Android TV boxes to redirect internet traffic through infected home networks. According to cybersecurity firm Netlab, the botnet affected millions of devices and used them as residential proxies without owners' knowledge. The compromised boxes route third-party traffic through victims' home internet connections. Netlab did not specify which manufacturers or models were most affected.
