Venezuela Oil Deal Raises Questions Over US Role

The Trump administration reached an agreement granting a US-led venture access to 65 billion barrels of Venezuelan oil reserves. Victoria Coates, former Deputy National Security Advisor for Middle East Affairs and a Heritage Foundation fellow, stated on Bloomberg that the agreement could encourage US investment and restore Venezuela's energy sector. Coates added that economic development should be accompanied by political liberalization and self-determination.
