Cale Makar signed an eight-year contract extension with the Colorado Avalanche worth $163.2 million, making him the highest-paid player in the NHL on a per-year basis at $20.4 million annually. The deal keeps the defenseman with the team through the 2033-34 season. Makar won the Stanley Cup with Colorado in 2022 and was named a Norris Trophy finalist in 2024.
