Want to know what's really in your food? The Trump administration is trying to help

The Department of Health and Human Services proposed a rule requiring food manufacturers to notify the Food and Drug Administration about food additives designated as Generally Recognized As Safe (GRAS). The proposal followed illnesses linked to tara flour. Under current regulations, manufacturers can declare additives GRAS without FDA review or notification.
