Norway's King Harald V dies at 89 and his son becomes King Haakon VIII

King Harald V of Norway died on Friday at age 89. His son became King Haakon VIII following the succession. Harald had spent part of his childhood in the United States during World War II and married his longtime partner rather than a member of European nobility, as had been expected of Norwegian royalty at the time.
