Ratko Mladic, ex-Bosnian Serb warlord who oversaw atrocities in Bosnia, has died at 84

Ratko Mladic, the former commander of the Bosnian Serb army during the 1992-1995 war in Bosnia and Herzegovina, died at age 84. Mladic was convicted in 2017 by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes. He was serving a life sentence at a prison in The Hague, Netherlands, where he died. The tribunal found him responsible for the Srebrenica massacre in 1995, in which approximately 8,000 Bosniak Muslims were killed.
