Yayoi Kusama, the Japanese artist known for her polka-dot infinity rooms and pumpkin sculptures, died on November 16, 2024, at age 88 in Tokyo. Her death followed a career spanning over seven decades that made her work widely recognized internationally. Kusama was born in Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture in 1929 and moved to New York in 1957, where she exhibited her work before returning to Japan in 1973.
