India Takes On Mammoth Population Count

India launched its first census in more than 15 years, deploying over 3 million field workers at a cost exceeding 1 billion dollars to count its population of more than 1 billion people. The census aims to gather demographic data on the country's residents. Results from the count will inform policy decisions and resource allocation across India's government and institutions.
