Girl Scouts denies teaching religion amid scrutiny of Muslim faith awards, mosque visits

Girl Scouts of the USA stated that independent faith organizations operate optional Islamic programs following reports that some mosque-based troops included instruction on prayer and hijab. The organization said it does not teach religion and that participation in faith-specific activities is voluntary. Girl Scouts of the USA has approximately 2.2 million members across the United States.
