How do we explain OpenAI’s executive exodus?

Greg Brockman, OpenAI's president, remained at the company after co-founder Sam Altman was briefly removed from his CEO role in November 2024, then reinstated days later. Multiple OpenAI executives departed in 2024 and early 2025, including Chief Technology Officer Mira Murati, VP of Research Jakub Pachocki, and VP of Safety Jan Leike. OpenAI has not publicly released unified statements explaining the departures.
