Fed’s preferred inflation gauge shows core prices rose 3.3% annually in July

The personal consumption expenditures price index, the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation measure, rose 0.1% in July on a monthly basis and 3.3% over the previous 12 months, according to data released in August 2026. Economists surveyed by Dow Jones had expected monthly growth of 0.1% and annual growth of 3.6%.
