Jack Smith to States: 'Initiate Litigation' to Protect the Elections from Trump

Former special counsel Jack Smith said Thursday that state attorneys general should "be proactive" and "initiate litigation" regarding the upcoming elections. Smith made the statement during an appearance on MSNBC's "Deadline" program. Smith previously led the federal investigation into Trump that resulted in charges related to classified documents and the January 6 Capitol riot; those cases were dismissed after Trump won the 2024 election.
