Wednesday, August 26, 2026
Amazon Mechanical Turk, launched in 2005 as a platform for completing tasks too difficult for automation but simple for humans, is shutting down. The service allowed businesses to post jobs such as data labeling, content moderation, and survey completion to a distributed workforce. Amazon founder Jeff Bezos previously described the platform as artificial artificial intelligence. The company did not provide a shutdown date in its announcement.
