Polestar claims it was blindsided by sales ban

Polestar stated that the Trump administration did not grant its request to continue selling electric vehicles in the United States under a rule that prohibits vehicles with connected software from China. In an August 18th letter to dealers obtained by The Verge, Polestar said it lacked clarity on the administration's timeline for a final decision on the matter. The rule targets vehicles with certain Chinese-origin connected technologies and applies to multiple automakers operating in the US market.
