US removes Syria from list of state sponsors of terrorism

The Trump administration removed Syria from the U.S. State Department's list of state sponsors of terrorism. Ahmed al-Sharaa, who leads Syria's new government, met with U.S. officials as part of the policy shift. The removal followed the change in Syria's government earlier in 2024.
