Syria off US terror blacklist after nearly 50 years as Trump admin clears investment hurdle

The United States removed Syria from its state sponsors of terrorism list. Secretary of State Marco Rubio authorized the action and delisted Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, the Syrian rebel group that currently controls the country. Syria had been on the terrorism list for approximately 50 years.
