Bloomberg
Bond Investor Ed Al-Hussainy on Bessent's Treasury Twist
Monday, August 24, 2026
Ed Al-Hussainy, Portfolio Manager at Columbia Threadneedle Investments, said the U.S. dollar has remained stable against developed market currencies while emerging market currencies have strengthened, driven by carry trades in Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, and South Africa where real yields are higher. Al-Hussainy attributed the dollar's underperformance to the Federal Reserve repricing rates more slowly than other central banks, despite U.S. unemployment remaining low and economic growth steady. He made the remarks on Bloomberg's "The Close" program with host Romaine Bostick.
