Bitcoin has beaten stocks and gold over six months. Now it’s closing in on $80,000.

Bitcoin traded near $80,000 on Monday, a price level it last reached in May. The cryptocurrency gained value following an announcement that the Treasury Department plans to purchase longer-dated Treasury securities.
