A meat thermometer can measure internal food temperature to help reduce the risk of foodborne illness from undercooked poultry and meat. The U.S. Department of Agriculture recommends cooking poultry to an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit and ground meat to 160 degrees Fahrenheit to reduce pathogen risk.
