WNBA Team Debuts 'Non-Binary' Turtle Mascot in Apparent Taunt Directed at Sophie Cunningham

The Toronto Tempo introduced two mascots Tuesday: Dez, a Borealis Blue Snapping Turtle character that uses she/they pronouns, and a companion named Dot. The expansion franchise did not publicly state the mascots were created in reference to Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham or any specific player.
