Sunday, August 23, 2026
Rubén Rocha Moya, governor of Sinaloa state, left office on February 5, 2026, one day after returning to the position. Rocha Moya had previously stepped down in October 2024 following accusations from U.S. authorities that he aided criminal organizations. He resumed his role on February 4, 2026, but reversed the decision within 24 hours. Members of his own political party had opposed his return to office.
