There's a difference between coaches who 'can't' win a national championship and coaches who 'haven't'

Dan Lanning and Steve Sarkisian have both been the subject of commentary questioning whether they can win a national championship. Lanning is the head coach at Georgia and Sarkisian is the head coach at Texas. Neither has won a national championship in their current positions. Past coaches including Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, and Dabo Swinney did not win championships in their early years as head coaches before later winning multiple titles.
