Sanctions Target Iran’s Weakened Regional Network

The Trump administration announced new economic sanctions against Iran following unsuccessful diplomatic negotiations and military confrontations. Kim Ghattas, a writer and fellow at Columbia University's Institute of Global Politics, said Iran's regional network has weakened and economic conditions have deteriorated, which could affect how the sanctions campaign functions compared to previous efforts over the past 47 years.
