American Whiskey Pays Price for Canada Trade Rift

US spirits exports to Canada declined 70% between March and December 2025, while exports to other countries increased 2.5% during the same period. Most Canadian provinces removed American alcohol from their shelves during this timeframe. Michael Bilello, president and CEO of the American Whiskey Association, stated that restoring market access represents only an initial step, as producers must also rebuild consumer demand in Canada following over a year of trade tensions.
