Dismantling the Roadless Rule threatens to disrupt wildlife and water in US

The Trump administration proposed rolling back the Roadless Rule, a 2001 regulation that restricted road construction on approximately 58.5 million acres of federal forest land. The rule was enacted under President Bill Clinton and has remained largely intact through subsequent administrations. The proposal would allow states and private interests to petition for road development on currently protected forest lands.
