TikTok will pay $400 million to settle DOJ child privacy lawsuit

TikTok agreed to pay 400 million dollars to settle a Department of Justice lawsuit filed in 2024 that alleged the company violated the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. The DOJ alleged that TikTok collected data from children without notifying or obtaining consent from parents and did not delete accounts as required by law. The settlement was announced on Friday.
