TikTok reaches $400M settlement over children’s privacy lawsuit

TikTok agreed to pay $400 million to settle allegations by the U.S. Department of Justice that it violated the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. The DOJ had made the allegations two years prior to the settlement announcement. The settlement included requirements for TikTok to modify its data collection and privacy practices related to users under 13 years old, according to the DOJ.
