Reporter who exited CNN after being at center of costly defamation trial lands at Al Jazeera English

Alex Marquardt joined Al Jazeera English after departing CNN. Marquardt had been defendant in a defamation lawsuit filed by U.S. Navy veteran Zachary Young against him and CNN in 2025. The case resulted in a settlement; CNN agreed to pay Young 750 million dollars in November 2024, according to reporting on the settlement terms. Marquardt's new role at Al Jazeera English began in January 2025.
