Technology companies developing artificial intelligence systems and governments are competing for capital in debt markets. Major AI firms are issuing record amounts of corporate debt to fund data centers, computer chips, and energy infrastructure, while the U.S. and other governments are issuing sovereign debt at elevated volumes to cover budget deficits and defense spending.
