El Niño set to be 'strongest in living memory', says Met Office

The UK Met Office said El Niño conditions are expected to intensify through 2026 and into 2027. Scientists at the Met Office projected that 2027 could be the warmest year on record globally. The forecast was based on ocean temperature measurements and atmospheric patterns monitored by the organization.
