The homeownership rate for adults ages 25 to 34 was 38.2% in 2024, compared to 43.6% for the same age group in 2000, according to U.S. Census Bureau data. Mortgage rates declined from a 23-year high of 7.79% in October 2023 to approximately 6.84% by early 2025, according to Freddie Mac. Median home prices remained elevated relative to historical averages in most U.S. markets through 2025.
