Progressives notch victory in race to replace Swalwell following sexual assault scandal

Aisha Wahab won the California special election on February 18, 2026, to represent the congressional seat previously held by Eric Swalwell. Wahab defeated Melissa Hernandez in the race. Swalwell vacated the seat following resignation.
