Wells Fargo Report Says GLP-1s Reducing Certain Surgeries

Robin Wenzel, head of Wells Fargo Industry Insights, said bariatric surgery rates have declined more than 30% as GLP-1 use has increased. According to Bloomberg, GLP-1 prescriptions rose 120% between 2022 and 2024. Wenzel noted that healthcare providers have an opportunity to shift focus toward managing medication and side effects for patients using these drugs.
