Homeland Security Sends First 20 Deportees to Liberia

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security deported 20 individuals to Liberia on the first flight under an agreement in which Liberia agreed to accept 1,200 deportees from the United States. The arrangement was negotiated between U.S. and Liberian officials. Liberia is a West African nation with historical ties to the United States, having been founded by freed American slaves in the 19th century.
