Chinese Company Seeks $1.5 Billion in Damages over Panama Canal Port Ouster

Hong Kong-based CK Hutchison filed for international arbitration against Panama on Wednesday, seeking $1.5 billion in damages related to the loss of two Panama Canal port contracts in 2026. The company operates port facilities at both ends of the Canal through its subsidiary Hutchison Ports. Panama had terminated the contracts earlier in the year.
