The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that alpha-gal syndrome, transmitted through lone star tick bites, has increased in documented cases across the United States. The condition causes allergic reactions to red meat and other mammalian products. Prevention methods include using insect repellent, checking for ticks after outdoor activity, and removing ticks promptly. No vaccine currently exists for alpha-gal syndrome.
