Mexico Demands Proof After U.S. Treasury Sanctions Cartel Businesses Funding Mexican Political Campaigns

On December 2024, the U.S. Department of the Treasury imposed sanctions on multiple businesses it identified as cartel-linked and said were funding Mexican political campaigns. Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum responded by requesting that the U.S. government provide evidence supporting the sanctions. The Treasury did not immediately release detailed public documentation of its findings.
