Mystery voicemail scam can hit without your phone ever ringing

A man reported receiving voicemails at intervals of approximately 20 minutes from rotating phone numbers without his phone ringing. The voicemails arrived without incoming calls, a technique known as ringless voicemail delivery. Law enforcement and consumer protection agencies have documented similar complaints involving unsolicited voicemail messages used to prompt callbacks to numbers associated with fraud schemes.
