The 'fiddly and frustrating' work removing 10,000 coins from Giant's Causeway columns

Conservationists removed approximately 10,000 coins that had been wedged into the basalt columns at Giant's Causeway in Northern Ireland. The coins, which visitors had inserted into cracks and crevices in the rock formations over years, were extracted as part of a conservation effort. Giant's Causeway is a UNESCO World Heritage Site featuring hexagonal basalt columns formed by ancient volcanic activity.
