Braskem’s Mexico Unit Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in US

Braskem Idesa, a joint venture between Brazilian petrochemical company Braskem SA and Mexican conglomerate Grupo Carso controlled by Carlos Slim, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in the United States. The filing followed a period of financial difficulty and declining liquidity. Braskem Idesa operates petrochemical operations in Mexico.
