Trump Doubles Down on Declaring Strait of Hormuz U.S. Territory as Iran Threatens to Break U.S. Blockade

President Donald Trump stated Monday that Washington has "total control" of the Strait of Hormuz. Iran's government announced it would adopt a more offensive military posture and threatened action against what it described as a U.S. naval blockade in the waterway. The Strait of Hormuz is a shipping passage between Iran and Oman through which roughly one-third of global seaborne oil trade passes.
