Anthropic explains how Claude’s invisible text watermarks will work

Anthropic announced Friday that Claude will use a watermarking system based on Google DeepMind's open-source SynthID-Text technology to mark text generated by the AI model. The watermarking approach embeds detectable patterns into text using wording probabilities. Anthropic said the system is being implemented to comply with European Union AI transparency requirements.
