Google must pay €4.1bn fine for using Android to 'block' rivals

The European Commission ordered Google to pay 4.1 billion euros for antitrust violations related to Android on November 5, 2024. The Commission found that Google used Android to block rivals and maintain dominance in mobile operating systems and app distribution. Google spokesperson stated the judgement "fails to recognise" the firm's "significant investment to ensure Android remains open." Google has indicated it plans to appeal the decision.
