Met Police apologises for data breach involving alleged Al Fayed victims

The Metropolitan Police Service acknowledged a data breach in which contact details of individuals who had registered for monthly updates on allegations against Mohamed Al Fayed were shared with all other recipients. Scotland Yard stated the breach occurred when it copied all email addresses into a single message rather than using blind copy functionality. The police force apologized for the incident and said it was reviewing its procedures. Al Fayed, former owner of Harrods, died in 2023 and was not prosecuted before his death.
