Heat Domes Are Dangerous. July Fourth Activities Will Make Things Worse

Heat-related illness risks increase during July Fourth activities, according to health officials. Extended time outdoors, alcohol consumption, and sustained physical activity during periods of elevated temperatures can contribute to heat exhaustion and heat stroke. The National Weather Service issued heat advisories across portions of the eastern United States during the holiday period. Symptoms of heat-related illness include dizziness, nausea, and loss of consciousness.
