Hollywood Box Offices Are Back

Global box office ticket sales increased 15% in the first seven months of 2026 compared to the same period in 2025 and are tracking toward the highest annual total since 2019, according to Bloomberg. Five films have exceeded $1 billion in worldwide revenue, including Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which earned over $1 billion during its opening weekend. Upcoming releases of Dune and Avengers installments are expected by industry analysts to potentially bring the total number of $1 billion films for 2026 to seven, which would be the second-highest annual count on record.
