Luigi Mangione pleads guilty in federal case related to UnitedHealthcare CEO killing

Luigi Mangione entered a guilty plea in federal court in connection with the death of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Mangione's attorneys indicated they plan to argue that the federal plea bars state prosecution based on double jeopardy protections. Thompson was killed in December 2024 in New York City. The federal charges and any subsequent legal arguments will proceed through the courts.
